Gig news

Unfortunately the gig in The Mercantile had to be cancelled due to an issue with the venue, but the fridge magnet singles will still be available online from October 20th, and Still Frame From A Sunny Monday is still available for free on Soundcloud.
We will however be playing (we – yes, a band gig!) this Sunday, October 23rd, at the brilliantly named Office of Non-Compliance, which is located in the Earlsfort Terrace exhibition site of Dublin Contemporary 2011. It’s only a mere €5 in, and all proceeds go to The Simon Community. The evening runs from 7pm to 11pm and will be on the theme “Smarting Under Strictures”. Donal Lunny and Paddy Glackin are also playing, as are Spook of the Thirteenth Lock, and there’ll be cake, films and fairy lights! The gig is being organised by the Young Hearts Run Free collective.

New single with previously unreleased “b-side”

Still Frame From A Sunny Monday is the latest single to be taken from the album 100,000 Times.
The single will be available as a free download from Soundcloud, or as a limited edition hand painted fridge magnet, featuring a download code that will unveil the song and a previously unreleased song called Backwards. The fridge magnets will be available for purchase on Bandcamp from October 20th.

Here’s some magnets. They once were clothes pegs! The download code is on the side, and when you’re done downloading you can pop them on your fridge door (or any other metal surface) and use them to hold photos, reminder lists, bills (boo!!) or whatever takes your fancy!

Hard Working Class Heroes kicks off tonight, and there’ll be a full band SIC set on Saturday in The Button Factory at 7.50pm. Also, Saturday afternoon we’ll be playing as a duo (myself and drummer Gareth) at The Gutter Bookshop on Cows Lane, Temple Bar around 12.15pm. That one is free, so if you’re around Temple bar drop in! Here is an interview I did with , its part of a series of interviews they did with people playing HWCH. So nice of them to describe me as “ever polite”!

My Favourite Button

My favourite button is the record button. I was pressing it today to lay down tracks on some new songs, the first of which will be the b-side of my next single. I’m planning a gig to launch it, but I’m not sure yet if it’s going to be this side of HWCH (6-8 October) or after it, so watch this space as they say!
Anyhow, the single is going to be another song taken from 100,000 Times, but the b-side will be something that you haven’t heard before. I’ve been thinking up a format to put it out on, and I’ve settled on something a bit “different”. Cryptic eh? More soon!

Hard Working Class Heroes

Delighted that I’m going to be playing at this years Hard Working Class Heroes Festival here in Dublin. The festival takes place on the 6th, 7th and 8th of October. The schedule has to be sorted so I don’t know when I’ll be playing just yet, I’ll update when I know!
Going to be playing in full band mode again for it too!
